India, Kerala and COVID19
2020-07-19
I’ve been trying to not write this. Both because this how this makes me worry and this might turn out controversial.
Recent projections done by Prof Sashikumar G, Prof Deepak S and their team in IISc estimates that by the New Year on 1st January 2021, India would have about 3 crore active cases and around 10 lakh casualties. India will reach it’s peak number only by March 31, 2021.
Central government has made disclosing community transmission as taboo. Only relief is how the Kerala government is acknowledging there is community transmission and making steps in their power to handle the situation.
I don’t see anything calming on the measure takes by central government or how the people are going out in public as if nothing has ever happened (well, except most people are wearing cotton masks in fear of penalty from cops, but not to because they are worried about pandemic).
